DISPATCHES FROM THE FIELD: By Jeremy Curran
The end of 2010 marks my second year since I started my company Frontline Distribution, and what an interesting, frustrating, yet eductational and fulfilling time it has been. I have not woken up to an alarm clock in two years, have fought the IRS, and have kick and scrapped my way in to running a outdoor action sports specialized, warehousing and distribution business. Finally beginning to work for myself has meant that I could let my imagination run wild, and run wild it has, pursuing all the major markets that I am most interested in including, surf, stand up paddle boarding, mountain and urban biking, skiing and snow sports, wake boarding, alternative energy, and motor sports to name a few. Creating my own company has provided me the creative license to finally pursue my passions and create a fun company from the ground up. That will, with time, ultimately provide me the working capital and freedom of time and place to work from different location around the world, enjoy my time on this world, and give back by finally being able to fund small mixed use urban redevelopment projects in select west coast markets. The future is beginning to look bright indeed my friends!
While growing my little empire, I have also managed to become quite the urban gardener, growing organic tomatoes, green onions, peppers, and lettuce of all kinds. I have also been working on a couple larger more exciting paintings with my most recent work focused on my largest canvas to date of 4x5 ft! As always, I have been honing my skills riding my growing quiver of surf boards, taking as mainy mountain bike trips to Tahoe and like as a start up budget will allow, and trying to catch some powder days in Mammoth and Kirkwood. This year I have even started to edit some of my growing library of video, taken with my trusty Go Pro and Flip cameras.
I am not quite the success my mother always thought I would be yet, but all in all, I have been learning a lot, carving out the life I a have always wanted to live, and having a blast while doing it! I hope you enjoy these photos, videos, and random accounts of my adventures along the way in this new personal site Vagabaond Workshop. And as always mi casa es su casa if you are in the neighborhood or just feel like swinging into town for some sunshine and a surf!
